I restarted once more and managed to download another update before a Windows "Data Execution Error" window popped up. It didnt seem to affect the Live Update though.
I rebooted a couple more times and things seem to work okay, although there is still a bit of a speed issue which I noticed wasnt a problem when I uninstalled NIS. I will keep an eye on things over the next few days and let you know how I go on. The important thing is that my protection is up to date which the goal.
