I've been building ASP applications since classic was new. I've been all round the Microsoft website looking for somewhere where I can download the documentation so that I can read it offline.
In particular, I need to be able check details from the Class Library. When you install. I'm looking for the same thing. I followed your download link and attempted to install 4. Sure enough I was offered 2 options: repair or uninstall. I already have the framework but there is no link that I can find to locally installed documentation.
Thank you everyone for your attempts to help, but I'm racking my brains to think of a way to make my question clearer for you. It's not difficult to find the resources you're suggesting because they're on the Microsoft website.
I've already explored that quite a lot - when I'm online. The C language spec for version 4 would be quite useful, but I've been coding in C for many years and so far I haven't come across any surprises working with. NET 4. That wasn't my question. It's the Class library documentation I particuarly need - that's where the changes are most obvious or confusing.
The online Class Library documentation is nice, but as I said in my original post "I do my best work when I'm not connected to the internet on the train etc. Surely you're not so young that you don't remember version 2 - the true "classic" in my opinion. So does anyone know if and where I can download to my own laptop the full documentation for. Hi David. They really took sometime to understand your question :. But the persistence took effect. I also had the same issue and once in while I tried to search on the web for the answer without any clear solution.
It seems to me quite natural having the documentation on the local machine for studying offline at least it is faster and we know it's there. Several times I went to menu Help but the first thing that shows is the location where to put stuff and no information or menus to download the documentation, so I though wrongly, we should always try things over that's not it. Today I pass that step defining a simple local place to save the stuff and , for my suprise and joy a full new world open!
