Having safely rescued GB of photographs most of them had been backed up already but I had not done a back up for a long time — over a year! I then ran the chkdsk utility on the RAW partition and went to make a cup of tea. After that scare, I will be more methodical in my back up habits. Finally found this last bit of blog and it saved me from an eternal agony. I see you have bad sectors, you should backup your data regularly and consider buying a new hard drive.
Restore does not help. Probably i need reinstall Windows. Thank you soooo much , it really worked!!!!! In computer management I deleted the drive letter and then created a new one, I changed it to drive Z. Then I run cmd. Thanks again!!! Its work like a charm.. Thank u very much …………. At first told me it needs to check the disk. When it finished checking, disk was RAW! Really strange. Thanks a lot dude, this works for me as well… m really happy to have my hdd back….
Thanks again.. You only need to change if it has bad sectors or in case of strange clicking sounds. Reading S. But in my computer the hdd shows only gig of 3tb available…why cant i see my files??? Maybe your files are hidden? Are you using Windows Explorer or some more advanced file manager like Total Commander? Moreover, it says the files are unreadable. Then how do I do that? The method you mentioned is cloning the new hard drive from the old hard drive, right? I am somewhat concerned that the old hard drive has some viruses or corrupt data on it. If cloning, then his bad data would be transfered to the new hard drive, not a good thing. However, if I go the cloning route, then it seems I could just use the Ghost restore DVD on the new hard drive after I get it up and running , to get all good data on the new hard drive.

Hi, Sanatorious, probably this situation is caused by some hardware issue. In any case you need full reinstall with drive reformatting or even replacing unfortunately. Please, let us know is drive good or bad. In reply to MaritzaCapiro's post on January 11, Samsung Magician shows no errors. Ran HDAT2 in verify mode. No errors. Any other diagnostics in HDAT2 that could flush out a bad motherboard or other issues?
