There are 22 cities to be serviced which are connected by a network of roads. Players pick up cards which are then shown under the left hand side of the board and create Routes which are shown under the right hand side of the board. The top left panel shows the available bonus tiles still available. To the right of this is the name of the active player. The Right Hand panel shows the current situation of each player. The numbers show the following:.

There are 6 available cards displayed under the player status panel. In the lower right corner there is a stack of city cards.

Each turn you can select one of the four office holders to your advantage. They have the following characteristics:. The Bailiff can only be selected if you have at least one card in your hand. If none of the available cards suit your purpose you can choose to swap all 6 cards for new ones, instead of randomly take a card from the stack. You can take 2 cards instead of just 1. The post master does not have to be selected. Just take an extra card. If you have no cards at the beginning of a round you must use the postmaster including at the start of the game.

The coachman lets you play a second card on your route. The coachman does not have to be selected. Just play an extra card! Only for the purpose of acquiring your next carriage see Carriages, below. Example: A player already possesses the Coach 6 Card. The player now completes a route that contains only five City Cards and uses the assistance of the Wainwright to take the Coach 7 Card.

At the beginning of his turn the active player takes a city card. He may select these from one of the six displayed cards or he may take a card from the stack.

The pool of 6 cards is filled up immediately. When the deck is exhausted, it is replenished with the shuffled discard deck. The active player must also play a card to his route. If he has started a route, the cards played must be attached to this route; i.

You cannot bypass or split a route. You may also not have doubles of the same city in the route. The player still has Innsbruck and Kempten in his hand. Kempten may not be played in this turn as it has neither a direct road connection to Linz or to Munich. Innsbruck may be played since it has a direct connection to Munich. If the player selects the Innsbruck card, then a face-down card appears on the route [right side] and can be selected.

In this case only one appears, because Innsbruck can only be linked to Munich and not Linz. Click on the appropriate route location to place the card there. Now Kempten can be added to the route, as this can now connect to Innsbruck. In this example the route placed, Carlsruhe - Mannheim - Wurzburg, neither Linz or Salzburg can be played. The player must therefore discard his route. Whenever a route is finished, the player takes the following steps: a.

Place Mile stones; b. Take Bonus Tiles, where appropriate; c. Draw a Coach Card, where appropriate; and d. Discard City Cards and excess hand cards into the discard pile as set forth below. If you have a route of length at least 3 you can now score this route. You can also elect not to place the route yet and go for a bigger route next turn by clicking on the Continue button. If you decide to place your route, then you can now place milestones in your cities.

There are two possibilities:. Click to deselect the milestones that you will not place.
